Back to work

Hello everyone. Well, after a crazy couple of days, Kelli and I are getting settled into a semi-normal routine out here in New Haven. The real schedule won't start until next week when Kelli starts working and when we move into the place where we will be living for the next 4-5 months, but we are starting to feel much more at "home" here.

Basically, when Kelli will be off working, I will be frolicking around Yale. By frolicking I of course mean reading and photocopying. I am currently working at the JEC - J = Jonathan; E = Edwards; C = Center. I have at my finger tips the greatest resource center for my topic, so I do a lot of reading and accumulating.

The JEC is located in Yale's Divinity Quadrangle:

Now, what is nice about the Divinity Quad is that it is pretty self-sustained. It has its own bookstore, chapel, and library. But, from time to time (such as today), I have to go "down the hill" (downtown), and use one of the libraries there. Today, I was in the bowels of the Sterling Library on a microfilm machine (as you do). Here it is:

New York

Only an hour and half away from where we currently live...the crazy city of New York

I'm thankful for the ease of travel on the train. Now its just a quick trip to go visit my brother! Here's a pick of a yummy salad we made...

We arrived!

Well, we finally arrived in Connecticut. Oddly, it looks as though we brought Scotland's weather to California, and California's weather to Connecticut. It was 60 degrees today!

We've walked around Yale a bit, which is incredible, and I poked my head into the Edwards center. I will start tomorrow and I am really excited. I think this will be an incredible time for my work, and a fun time for Kelli and I.

To fill you in on the rest of the trip, we had (fortunately) a reasonably uneventful time. We, once again, had a great time meeting up with friends along the way. Our last night on the road was interesting, because we put a price into priceline.com and had it pick a place for us to stay. Priceline picked a hotel that, in the 1920's, was a 5 star hotel, but now is rated at 3 stars. Basically, it was a 5 star hotel that didn't change much since the 20's, but was really cool anyway. I guess it hosted the 1938 PGA championship, and was a favorite place of Jackie Gleasen and Sam Snead. Crazy. Well, here are some pics!

Over half way there...

Hello. It has been a while, and for that I am sorry. Kelli and I have had a whirlwind trip thus far, and it seems to continue to get crazier as time goes on. We have seen the redwoods of California, and the beaches of Maui. We have driven through snow in Texas, and negative temperatures in the midwest. We've been in 8 states in the last couple of days, and we've had the opportunity to see many friends along the way.

For those of you who don't know, we are headed to Connecticut for about 5 months. I will be researching at Yale, and Kelli will be working. While we are growing tired making this long journey, we have had a blast. We've had hotel showers that make a 20 degree jump from hot to cold and back again within an instant, we've seen countless babies and children, we've drank more coffee than any two humans should ever consume, and we've made up for our fair share in gas saved while not driving in Scotland in the amount we've paid for along the way.

There are too many highlights to go through, particularly relational ones, but some of the non-relational highlights have definitely been: kelli's first Cracker Barrel experience, a great steak at Weber Grill, the horizon of texas, and the beauty of snow.

We look forward to making it all the way to our destination, and continue our adventure "in Aberdeen" while we are away on the East Coast. We will keep you updated on our random adventures there as well.
