A special place

The garden pictured below is by far my most favourite place in Aberdeen. We've posted pictures of Johnston Gardens before, but not like this one. A friend and I went there last friday, with some coffees and a croissant to share. It was a classic cloudy, windy and cold Aberdeen day, but the gardens gave the day some colour. I will defintely miss this place.

Pudding Party

Kelli and I went to our first pudding party. For those of you in the states, a pudding is simply a "dessert," and not necessarily pudding - which would be custard. In any case, our university ministry put together a pudding party the Thursday night of finals week. If I remember correctly, 16 people made puddings, everything from brownies, rhubarb crumble, Carolina Mud Pie, Mars Bar Cheesecake, Ice Cream, Cookies, and all sorts of other yummy goodness.

Our little gym area was all set up for hanging out, having tea or coffee and stuffing one's face full of food. We had a lot of students come by, which is always good, but when you have free food not all that surprising!

My buddy Glenn and I had to make sure that the puddings were edible, for safety reasons...

Below is a pic early on before most of the puddings got there. It was fun to see people show up and have whole new dessert options!

The packing has begun

The current bane of my existence is the packing that we have to do before we leave. Packing is one thing, but making a complete inventory of all of your books is wholly other. We were prepared to take a week long nightmarish book-inventorying extravaganza when a friend of mine suggested I use Delicious Library (check it out here). Delicious Library is about the coolest thing ever. First, you grab a book and hold up the barcode to the camera on your laptop. Second, the picture of the book appears on the screen on a virtual bookshelf, and then third, you can download a inventory of your books with author, name, isbn, price, etc. Pretty awesome. Here are some pics we took of the job.

One of the students from our university group offered to come over and help. We had to turn off the feature that reads aloud the name of the books because that got old real quick.

Who knew packing could be so fun?
