Hello again!

Hello all, I would also like to apologize for our blog-neglect. We took an emotional hit after losing our beloved camera - that decided the jump down the concrete stairs was better than life with us. That was hard enough, but then we got another camera, that after a week made the same decision, minus the concrete stairs. We are not on camera probation. Evidently the word is out in the Sony camera underworld that it is better to experience one hard smack on the ground than go through our gratuitous picture endeavors.

But, we have gone 1982 and bought a slightly-purple camera for a couple of dollars that has some sweet features, like: flash, manual wind, manual rewind, and did I mention it has a built in flash? Pretty awesome.

But, that said, we are back online. We are not really sure what to think about our camera situation, but we will have pictures...kind of.

Moving on, today is a special day. After waiting for many months, and putting in a lot of work, we received the first copy of my book today!

All in all, it is a bit of a weird experience, but exciting nonetheless. It is mostly humbling to know that this will soon be in stores across the US and UK. We have also recently found out that Relevant Magazine is going to have my book a part of their summer reading list, which I believe will be on their website. Also, we have launched the website for the book, at www.JesusAsAWayOfLife.com, and will have a free Study Guide available for individuals and groups - so if you know any pastors or small group leaders, please let them know.

Anyway, Kelli and I are constantly amazed at how quickly time continues to go. We look forward to seeing you soon if we can, but if not, please stay in touch. We miss you all, and hope all is well.

Oh Yeah, and Kelli is a cute Scottish lady now.

You all are missed!!

A few of you have hinted at your disappointment with our blog these days...we're sorry we are blogging slackers...so here we go...back to blogging

As the title suggests, you all are definitely missed. I think Kyle and I have finally realized that we live far far away. The fact that we'll see family and friends only a couple times a year now is just saddening. I'll admit, its hitting me a little harder than Kyle...probably because I'm slightly more emotional than him :)...and he of course has many other things to think about these days. However, we both find ourselves thinking about the random special times...like lunches or walks and talks...familiar faces and hugs. We do enjoy life here and it's been an amazing experience thus far, but I just figured I'd let you all know we miss you!!

Some exciting news for you all...Kyle found out last night that his book is in the warehouse and will be sent out to stores shortly!! We should actually receive the first copy sometime today or tomorrow. He began writing the book 4 months after our wedding...and now it's actually a book...craziness!!! We're excited and hope that you all enjoy it.

My random bit of news these days is that I just registered for a marathon...a whole one...26 miles. (www.lochnessmarathon.com) I figured if I'm ever going to run a marathon, I might as well do it in Scotland. The race is not until October so I have plenty of time to train. We'll see how it goes!

Aberdeen Visit Continued

As I write I hear the howling wind outside. Apparently, the winds are supposed to reach 42 mph tonight, so we'll be praying our visitors have safe travels returning home. The visit was lovely, but of course too fast! Here are some photos of our adventures.

Below, Kyle is pointing out the golf course just over the hill from our flat.

Visiting Aberdeen

Hello everyone, we wanted to give you an update on my parents visit out here. Thus far the weather has been very...um....Scottish. Although yesterday was nice, and so we packed it with fun. This will be a very picture-laden blog, so here we go.

First, we walked over to St. Machars Cathedral, which I believe is also called "The Aberdeen Cathedral." We are not 100% sure on the dating, but I know that it pre-dates Kings College, and that was built in 1495. So we know that it is old. Here are some pics:

This pic is take from the back of the cathedral down the center aisle. Along the pews on each side are very large stone pillars leading up to the front.

On the outside of the pillars there are tombs (behind Kel and Dad) and an effigy from 1492.

The ceiling in St. Machars is incredible. It is all wood, and has the shields of Scotland placed at all of the connecting points. It is pretty awesome looking.

Here is dad taking a look at some of the stain glass. Well, there are a lot more pics and a lot more that we did yesterday, but it will have to wait for another blog. We are having fun in the rain! Thanks for checking out the blog! kyle
