I won't be eating lamb for a while!

Today was just amazing...on many levels. I joined a friend and her children on a bicycle ride towards the out-skirts of town. Apparently its lambing season, and we were fortunate today to meet about 15 little lambs!! Such cute animals...the way they play together butting heads, the noises they make, the way they chew their food...all just adorable. We also saw some sheep, a bull, and his many wives. It was just lovely to be on a farm, seeing these amazing animals living their lives. They really are beautiful creatures. So, I don't think I'll be eating lamb for a while!

The bicycle ride was amazing as well. Here's a picture of the trail we spent most of our time on. It's an old railway line that has been paved. Its the same trail I mentioned in the October posts...where I found the red mushroom! Poor Kyle was in the office all day, slaving away on his work...but the weekend is here, and hopefully we'll get out in the sunshine! Which by the way, its been in the 60s some days...and I ran in shorts the other day! So don't worry, we're not freezing...even though we live north of Moscow!

Good times in the kitchen

Easter Sunday was pretty mellow. Kyle was not feeling too well, so we stayed in most of the day and just relaxed. That evening however we made a random dinner that ended up being very good!! We chopped up a bunch of chicken and tomatoes, then mixed in some pesto and mozzarella cheese, grilled the mixture, then put it on a bed of spinach on top of a whole-wheat pita! It was great, and so fun to cook together!

Another random kitchen story...some of our Australian friends introduced us to the Tim-Tam Slam. I've attached an explanation from Wikipedia. We use coffee of course, but the snack is amazing with tea as well!

The Tim Tam Slam (or Tim Tam straw) is the practice of drinking a beverage by sucking it through a Tim Tam, an Australian chocolate-covered biscuit. The practice is done by sucking through a Tim Tam with both ends bitten off. According to the Toxic Custard guide to Australia, this procedure is done as follows:

  1. Prepare a cup of tea (or other hot or cold drink)
  2. Remove the Tim Tam from the packet
  3. Bite a small section off two diagonally opposite corners
  4. Dip one corner into the drink
  5. Suck on the other corner, which will mix the drink with little pieces of the biscuit
  6. When the Tim Tam begins to fall apart in your hand, eat the whole biscuit
  7. Obtain another Tim Tam from the packet and return to step 3

It should be noted, however, that some Australians prefer to bite both ends off entirely, as opposed to just the corners. [1]
