Thanksgiving

The Strobels hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner. It was quite the event. Here is a pic of me doing some carving.

Here, Kelli and Kim try to rig up a way to keep the turkey from falling open while cooking. The chosen method was toothpicks.

We had about 13 people for dinner, most of whom were local undergrad students. Here is a pic we took after desert when everyone was about to pop. We consumed great quantities of food and had a good time hanging out for a couple of hours.
As you can imagine, our place isn't ideal for a dinner with 13 people. We turned our kitchen into a buffet line and all ate in the living room (which was slightly difficult but ended up working really well in the long run).
This is when the shikinah glory descended upon our turkey.
Well, that is about it. Kelli did an incredible job with her first turkey, and our visiting Americans took care of the dishes which made the whole event run smoothly. We managed to slowly subvert the identity of the British students and sneak in a hearty "Americanization." So that's good! WOOOHAHAHAA

Way to go Kelli!
You know...you do a great job like that on these big holiday meals and you'll end up hosting them for all of us back here in the U.S.A.!
And Kyle...I think I'm trusting you to the carving from now on over your Dad! :)
